Skp Masalas

The shop at 2/101C on Perumal Koil Street in Sitherkadu is where we spend most of our days. It's not a fancy place, just a regular building where we handle the masalas. You can usually smell the chili and coriander from the corner of the street before you even see the sign. We’ve been here in Sitherkadu for a while now. The mornings are usually the busiest time because that's when the fresh stock comes in and we have to get everything sorted. Sometimes the dust from the spices makes everyone sneeze, but we’re used to it by now. The street itself is pretty narrow, so when a big delivery truck comes, it blocks the whole way for a few minutes. We just have to work fast to clear it out. Our neighbors at the temple often stop by just to say hello while they’re out. It’s a simple life here. We don't have a big office with air conditioning or anything like that. We just have our machines and the bags of spices stacked up against the walls. Some days are hotter than others, and the fans don't do much, but the work gets done anyway. We know most of the people who come by by their first names. It’s just how things are in this part of town. If you're looking for us, look for the blue door near the temple, that's where we'll be most of the time. We aren't trying to be something we're not.
