Pravin Hair Cutting Saloon sits up here in the Sahyadri Hills part of Aurangabad. If you know where the big water tank is in Renuka Nagar, then you know exactly where we are. Being on Renuka Nagar Road means we get a lot of people walking by from Shivaji Nagar heading to work or coming back home. The shop isn’t very big, but it fits what we need. We have the usual chairs and a few shelves for the combs and the spray bottles. Every morning, the first thing to do is open up the shutters and let the air in. Sometimes it gets quite warm in this part of Maharashtra, so having the door open helps. People mostly come in for a quick trim or a shave. It is a simple routine that hasn't changed much over the years. We talk about the weather or what is happening down the street while we work. You can hear the bikes going past outside all day long. It is just a local business where we know most of the people by their first names. We don’t have a website or any of that, just the shop here opposite the water tank. It feels good to be part of the neighborhood for so long. The chairs might be a bit old, but they are comfortable enough for a twenty-minute sit. We just keep doing what we do every day.
