Toto Collection

We are located right at # 41 Narayana Mudali Street. It’s a very busy spot since we’re facing Kasi Chetty Street directly. If you’ve ever been to this part of town, you know exactly how crowded it gets every day. There are people everywhere, scooters trying to squeeze through the gaps, and just lots of noise. Toto Collection is where we keep all our stock and do our business. It’s a small space, so we have to stack things all the way up to the ceiling to make it fit. Sometimes I honestly worry the whole pile might come down on us. We spend most of our time showing customers what we have in the bags and boxes. It’s not like a mall where everything is spread out nicely on hangers. Here, you really have to know exactly where everything is hidden. We get all sorts of people coming in. Some are just looking around, while others want to buy a whole lot of stuff at once. We don't do any of that fancy advertising or anything like that. People just find us because we’ve been here for a long time. The air is always a bit stuffy because there’s so much stock around. We drink a lot of tea to keep ourselves going through the day. By the time we finally close the shutters at night, my feet are usually killing me. It’s a tough way to make a living, but it’s what we do.
