Och Chemicals

Och Chemicals is located at 1 Amman Koil Street in Arikkamedu. It is right on the corner, and the Amman Koil temple is very close by, which is how the street got its name. Arikkamedu is a bit of a distance from the main city, so it feels a little more relaxed here, though there is still plenty of work to do. We handle different types of chemical supplies for various industries. The storage area is the biggest part of the building, and it is filled with sacks and containers piled up. I spend most of my day at a wooden desk near the entrance. The air sometimes has a sharp smell because of the products we keep in the back. It is a small operation, really. We have a few guys who help with the loading and unloading when the trucks arrive from the suppliers. Amman Koil Street isn't very wide, so when a big delivery comes, things get a bit tight and busy outside. We have been here for a long time, and the building shows its age with some cracks in the plaster and a roof that occasionally leaks when the monsoon rain is heavy. We don't have a website; people usually just call us or stop by because they know where we are. It’s a very local way of doing business. We keep our records in big ledger books and try to stay on top of the inventory.
