Our shop is at 76-3-2 on Arcot Road in Voc Nagar. If you know the area, it's pretty easy to spot. We mostly deal with broken TVs and screens. There are always parts and tools lying around on the workbenches. It’s a bit messy, but we know where everything is. Arcot Road is always busy, so there’s a lot of dust that comes in from the street. We spend most of our day under bright lights looking at circuit boards. Customers come in with their L E D sets tucked under their arms. Sometimes the repairs are quick, other times we have to wait for a specific part to arrive in the mail. We’ve been at this spot in Voc Nagar for a while. It’s a small space, so it gets cramped when there are too many sets waiting to be fixed. We usually have the radio on in the background while we work. It’s steady work, nothing too flashy. Most of our regulars are from the nearby streets. We see a lot of the same problems over and over. You get used to the smell of solder after a few years. It’s just a local service center doing what we can with the electronics people bring us. Some days we finish early, but usually, there's a pile of work to get through. We just take it one television at a time. It’s a honest living and the neighborhood is decent enough for us. It gets hot in the afternoons but we have a couple of fans.
