Raja Plastics

Raja Plastics is tucked away at number 12 in the Madhavaram area of Manali. We spend our days surrounded by all kinds of plastic products. It’s a bit of a maze inside the shop because we try to fit as much as possible onto the shelves. From large tubs to tiny spoons, we usually have a bit of everything. The Manali area can get quite busy with industrial activity, so we see a lot of different people coming through. We started this because there was a need for a local source of basic plastic goods. It’s mostly just hard work and long hours. I usually open up the shutters around nine in the morning. Some days the dust from the road gets everywhere, so cleaning is a constant task. We don't have any big marketing plans or fancy brochures. People just know we are here at Madhavaram and they come by when they need something. We try to be helpful, though sometimes when it’s busy, we have to move fast. The space is a bit old, and the paint is peeling in some corners, but it serves its purpose for us. We've got a steady group of regulars who come to us for their household needs. It’s a practical business for a practical neighborhood. We just keep doing our thing day after day, making sure the shelves are never empty for too long. Manali is a tough place to work, but it’s home.
