Our business is located at number 26 on Namasiviya Mudali Street. This is right in the heart of Old Washermenpet, which is one of the older and more crowded parts of Chennai. The street is quite narrow, so you have to be careful when you’re driving or even walking down it. There’s always something happening outside, whether it’s a delivery truck trying to squeeze through or people going about their daily shopping. Our office is a modest space where we handle everything related to petrochemicals. It’s an old building, so it has high ceilings and those thick walls that help a bit with the Chennai heat, though we still rely on the fans quite a bit. We have stacks of ledgers and a couple of old computers that we use to track our inventory. Most of our work involves talking to people over the phone and arranging for transport, which isn’t always easy given where we are located. We take our breaks when we can, often just grabbing a quick snack from the vendors on the street. It’s a busy, noisy, and somewhat chaotic place to work, but we’ve been here long enough that it feels like home. We don’t have a big corporate lobby or a receptionist; you just walk in and see us working at our desks. It’s a straightforward operation and we just try to keep things moving as best as we can every day.
