About Suga Sruthi Musicals – Event & Planning in Chennai
Our little shop is tucked away on Kaseem Ali 2nd Street in Triplicane. If you know the area, you know how these streets can get, but it’s where we’ve always been. Suga Sruthi Musicals isn’t a huge showroom or anything like that. It’s more of a place where we keep a bunch of instruments crammed into the shelves. We’ve got violins, some veenas, and lots of smaller things like strings and reeds. People come in mostly for repairs or because their kids started music lessons nearby. The humidity here in Chennai is really tough on wood, so we spend a lot of time just checking the instruments to make sure they haven't warped. Sometimes the shop feels a bit dusty because of the old papers and wooden cases, but that’s just how it is. We don't really do big advertisements. Most people find us because their teacher told them to come here or they just live down the street. It’s usually just one or two of us here during the day, drinking tea and waiting for the next person to walk in with a broken bridge or a guitar that won't stay in tune. It’s quiet most of the time until someone starts testing out a flute. We like being in Triplicane because the culture here is so connected to the music anyway. It’s a simple life running a music store on a narrow street.
