Sudha Neon Light

You can find Sudha Neon Light at No 25A, Muthaiyal Street. We are right in the Alandur-St Thomas Mount area. It’s an old street, and we’ve been here long enough that the neighbors know our faces. We spend our days bending glass and working with gas and electricity to make signs. It’s tricky work and sometimes we get a little burnt or cut, but that’s the trade. The shop is full of old transformers and bits of tubing. It’s not the cleanest place, but it's where we work. We don't have a secretary or a fancy showroom. If you come by, you’ll find us in the back with the torches. We make things for local shops, restaurants, and whoever else wants a bit of light in their window. We don't really do the big corporate stuff; we prefer the small jobs where we can actually see what we’re making. Sometimes the glass breaks and we have to start over, which can be frustrating. That’s just how neon goes. It’s a dying art in some ways, but we still like doing it. The street gets crowded in the evenings, but we’re usually still there finishing up a bend or testing a light. It’s just us and our tools, making things happen in this corner of Chennai. We don't have a website or a big sign of our own, just our work out there on the streets.
