Srm Infra Selvam Earth Movers is located over at No: 2-J on Karikalan Street in Pari Nagar. It’s a residential-feeling area in Jafferkhanpet, but we keep our business running from here. We’ve got a few pieces of heavy machinery that we lease out for construction and digging jobs. Most of the time, the machines are out on a site somewhere in the city, so the yard might look a bit empty. I handle the bookings and try to make sure the operators show up on time. It’s a lot of coordination. Sometimes the rain in Chennai messes up our schedule, and we have to push everything back. That’s always a bit of a headache. My office is small and filled with old ledgers and spare parts that I haven't found a place for yet. We don't spend money on big signs or marketing. People usually find us because a friend told them we have a reliable backhoe. It’s a straightforward operation. We focus on the local jobs, mostly small house foundations or clearing out old plots. We’ve been around Jafferkhanpet for a good while, so we know the local roads and the shortcuts to avoid the worst traffic. It’s just a regular day-to-day business for us, trying to keep the equipment in good shape and the work coming in. We enjoy being part of the neighborhood and staying busy.
