Sri Rsr Brick Works

We spend most of our days out here at 545, Pammal Main Road. It is a busy spot in Pammal, especially with all the traffic going towards Tambaram. My father started Sri Rsr Brick Works a long time ago and we just kept it going. Brick making is not easy work. You have to deal with the mud, the heat of the kilns, and the timing of the rains. If it rains too much, we can't dry the bricks properly. If it is too dry, everything gets dusty. We just try to make decent bricks that people can use for their houses. A lot of folks from around Tambaram come to us when they are building a small wall or a new room. We don't have a big fancy office. Mostly we are just out back checking on the stacks. Sometimes the trucks get stuck on the main road, which is a bit of a headache. Pammal has changed a lot since we opened. There are more buildings now and less open space. We just stay focused on the work at hand. Every morning starts with a cup of tea and looking at the weather. We hope the sun stays out long enough for the batch to set. It is a simple life here. We know the neighbors and they know us. If you walk past the shop, you’ll likely see us covered in some red dust. That is just how it goes in this trade.
