Sreevari Bricks

We've been operating out of this spot on Anchaneyar Kovil Back Street for quite some time now. If you head down the lane in Poonamallee, you'll see the stacks of bricks piled up near the entrance. It's a busy little corner of the world, especially when the loaders come in early in the morning. My clothes are usually covered in some kind of red dust by noon, but that's just how things go when you're working with earth and water all day long. Sometimes the weather doesn't help us much, especially when it rains and the yard gets muddy, but we keep the wheels turning. The neighbors know us well by now, and the sound of the machinery is just part of the background noise here. We mostly spend our time checking the kilns and making sure the stacks are straight. It isn't fancy work. There’s a tea shop just down the road where we take our breaks, and we talk about the day's load and who needs what delivered. It’s a lot of physical effort, moving things around and making sure the site stays organized enough to get the trucks in and out without getting stuck. Most days are long, and the sun can be pretty unforgiving when you're out in the yard. We just focus on getting the work done and keeping the inventory moving. It's a simple life here in the back streets, and we've got our routine down pretty solid after all these years.
