Siva Hair Stylers

Siva Hair Stylers is down in the basement of Kalyan Square, which is New No 83 or Old No 52 depending on who you ask. We are on Pantheon Road in Egmore, right near the Government Maternity Hospital. Chennai is always hot and busy, and Egmore is right in the middle of all that chaos. Being in the basement helps keep the place a bit cooler, which is a relief when the sun is really beating down outside. You can hear the hum of the city from down here, the horns and the people walking by. It’s a small shop, nothing too big. We have the usual chairs and mirrors, and everything is kept in its place. The hospital brings a lot of people through this street, so there’s always something happening outside the door. We spend most of our day standing on our feet, cutting hair and chatting with whoever sits in the chair. Some of our customers have been coming to us since we first opened up. We don't have a big sign or anything too flashy. People just know where we are. It’s a simple life, really. We open up early, get the tools ready, and stay until the last person is done. There’s a certain routine to it that feels right. Egmore has changed a lot over the years, but our little corner in the basement stays pretty much the same.
