Saravana Mill Stores is situated at No:100 on Thambu Chetty Street. Some people still get confused because the new number is 205, but most of our regulars just know the building. Thambu Chetty Street is always full of activity and we have been part of that for quite a long time. We deal with mill supplies and whatever parts the local factories or workshops might need. It’s a dusty job sometimes, but someone has to do it. The shop is narrow and deep, filled with shelves that go all the way to the ceiling. We know exactly where everything is, even if it looks a bit messy to someone walking in from the street. My father or my uncle is usually here at the counter. We talk to a lot of people every day. It’s not just about selling stuff; it’s about listening to what’s breaking down in their shops. We don’t have a fancy website or a big marketing team. We just open the doors and wait for the morning tea guy to come around. Thambu Chetty Street has changed a lot over the years, with new shops opening and old ones closing, but we are still here at number 100. It’s a steady life. We don’t expect to get rich quick, just to keep the mill stores running and help out the people who rely on us for parts. It is just a regular shop in a busy old street.
