Salon Aarti

Salon Aarti is located inside the New Corporation Complex in Chennai. We have two units there, Shop 19 and 20. This is on 3rd Cross Road, right in the 600001 postal area. Chennai is usually very hot and humid, so we get a lot of people coming in just to get their hair cut short or for a cooling face wash. The complex is a busy place with all sorts of different shops selling many things. We have been here for a while and have seen the whole neighborhood change over the years. Our shop is quite simple. We have the standard salon chairs and big mirrors on the walls. There is usually a fan running at full speed to keep the air moving around. We are not a high-end place with air conditioning that freezes you out. We just do regular haircuts and shaves for the local crowd. Sometimes whole families come in together on the weekend. It gets a bit noisy on the 3rd Cross Road with all the bikes and the people walking past the door. We do not mind the noise at all. We keep our tools sharp and our water ready for the next person. Most of our customers live in the nearby blocks. They know us by name and we know them too. It is just a daily routine for us. We open the shutters, sweep the floor, and start.
