Herbal Galenicals

Our place is tucked away at No. 29 Thirumalayappan Street. Purasawalkam is always crowded, so it gets noisy outside the windows. Herbal Galenicals has been sitting here for years. It smells like dried leaves and some spices most of the time. We work with various herbs and traditional preparations. It's a lot of manual work, sorting through bags and making sure the quality is okay. The building is old, with high ceilings and wooden shelves that are slightly bowed from the weight. We aren't a big corporation. It’s just a small group of us who know where everything is kept. If you ask for something specific, I usually have to climb a ladder to find it. The street outside is narrow, so trucks have a hard time reaching us. We often have to carry things from the main road. It’s tiring, but we’re used to it by now. The floor is stone and stays cool even when the sun is hitting the front door. We don't do much advertising; people just know we are here on Thirumalayappan Street. Sometimes a neighbor drops in just to say hello or ask for a glass of water. It’s that kind of place. We just keep doing what we’ve always done, day in and day out. It gets a bit dark in the back rooms, so we keep a couple of torches handy for when the bulbs burn out.
