If you know Pudupet, you know how crowded Thulasingam Street can get. Our place is at P.H. House. It’s got two numbers, the old 44 and the new 76. It confuses people sometimes, but we’ve been here long enough that it doesn't matter much. We deal with dry fruits. The shop is filled with bags and boxes of almonds, cashews, and raisins. It’s a lot of lifting and moving things around. The building itself is older, which gives it some character I guess. We don't spend much on fancy paint or signs. We just want to get the nuts and dried fruits out to the people who buy them. Some days the dust from the street gets in, so we are always sweeping and dusting the shelves. It’s a noisy area with all the vehicles, but you get used to it after a week. My brother works the counter mostly. I handle the stock in the back. We have a small crew helping us when things get busy during the festival times. We don't have a website that does much, we just talk to people face to face. It’s a straightforward business. We weigh things out, pack them up, and that's it. It’s honest work. The tea man comes by twice a day, and that’s usually our only break. We just keep our heads down and keep the business running. It's what we know how to do every day.
