Nisa Creations

Nisa Creations is located at 36 2nd Street in Gill Nagar. If you know Choolaimedu, you know it’s a very residential area with lots of families. We operate out of this house-turned-office on the second street. It’s a pretty quiet spot compared to the main roads nearby. We do a lot of tailoring and design work right here on the premises. There are usually boxes of fabric stacked in the corners and thread spools of every color on the shelves. We’ve been in Choolaimedu for several years, so we’ve seen the neighborhood change a bit. Most of the people who come to us are neighbors or friends of friends. We don't have a big showroom; it’s more of a workshop where the actual work happens. My aunt and I usually handle the customers while the others are busy at the machines. In the afternoons, the sun hits the front porch, and it gets quite bright inside. We spend a lot of time pinned over patterns and cutting cloth to size. It’s not a fancy lifestyle, but it keeps us busy and we like the people we meet. Sometimes we get really busy before the festival seasons, and we’re here late into the night. We try to keep things simple and honest with everyone who walks through the door.
