Being right opposite the Perambur Railway Station means we see a lot of people every single day. Most of them are just rushing to catch a train or coming home after a long shift. Our shop on Thiruvenkadam Street is small, but we make it work. It’s number 27/18 if you’re looking for the exact spot. We keep the chairs ready and the spray bottles filled up. There’s always a bit of dust from the road, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the glass and the counters. It’s a busy corner, and the noise from the station is something you just stop hearing after a while. We do basic haircuts and shaves for the men who live around here or work near the tracks. Nothing too complicated really. Sometimes someone wants something they saw on TV, and we do our best with that. The lighting isn't the brightest, but it’s enough to see what we are doing. We’ve got a couple of old fans that keep the air moving when it gets muggy in the afternoon. People sit on the bench and wait their turn while checking their phones or reading a paper if one is lying around. It’s just a normal place to get your hair sorted out without any fuss. We like staying busy, and in Perambur, there’s always someone needing a trim before they go home. It is just our daily routine to keep the shop going through the week.
