Mano Beauty Saloon

You can find Mano Beauty Saloon at No 62/3 on Halls Road in Egmore. We are right across the street from the Udupi Hotel. It’s a good landmark for people, and sometimes we even get customers who are just waiting for their table at the hotel. The shop isn't very big, and we have three old-style barber chairs that have seen a lot of use. The floor is made of simple tiles that we sweep every few minutes. We do basic haircuts and shaves for men. We don't really do those modern, complicated styles you see on TV. Most of our regulars are people who have lived in Egmore for decades. They come in, sit down, and we already know how they want their hair cut. We have a big window at the front so you can see all the traffic on Halls Road while you wait. There’s usually a stack of newspapers on the table, though they get a bit wrinkled by the end of the day. Our ceiling fan makes a bit of noise, but it works fine. We open the shop early in the morning and stay until about eight or nine at night. It’s a quiet, steady business. We’ve known some of these families for generations.
