Madurai Gents Beauty Parlour

If you find yourself on Mylai Periya Thambi Street in Broadway, you will see our shop at No 26. We are very close to the Excellent Hotel, which is a big landmark around here. Broadway is always such a packed area of Chennai, so there is never a dull moment outside our door. We call it a beauty parlour but mostly it is just a place for men to get their hair cut or a face massage. The room is a bit narrow, so we have to be careful how we move around when more than two people are waiting. We have some old posters on the walls showing different styles from a few years back. The chairs are comfortable enough if you are just sitting for twenty minutes. We get all sorts of people, from hotel guests to the street vendors who work nearby. Sometimes we stay open a bit later if the street is still busy. The water in the taps can be a bit slow sometimes, but we manage. We don't really do anything complicated here, just the standard stuff that people need to look decent. It is noisy with the horns honking outside, but we just keep working through it. It is just a small business trying to keep up with the pace of the city and the people who live and work in Broadway every day.
