We’re located at 266/4 in Seemathamman Nagar, over in the Maduravoyal area. If you know the neighborhood, it's mostly small shops and units like ours. At M P L Sub Assemblies Pvt Ltd, the day usually starts early with the sound of the shutters going up. We work on various parts and sub-assemblies, so there is always some kind of clinking or mechanical noise happening in the background. It’s not a glamorous place, just a workspace with benches, tools, and metal parts scattered around. Most of the people working here live nearby, so we all know each other pretty well. We spend most of the day hunched over the work tables, making sure things fit where they are supposed to. The floor is concrete and stays a bit cool even when it’s boiling outside, which is nice. Sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time navigating the narrow bits of the road near Seemathamman Nagar, so there’s a bit of shouting and gesturing to get them parked right. We don’t do much talking while we work, just focus on the task at hand. When lunch rolls around, we usually just sit together and talk about the news or whatever is happening in the local area. It’s steady work and it keeps us occupied from morning until evening. Nothing too complicated, just getting the jobs finished one by one. The days go by fast.
