L&T Ship Building

L&T Ship Building is situated over on Mambakkam Main Road in the Sithalapakkam area. Our site is at number 29 A and it is a pretty big operation with a lot of heavy stuff moving around. You can hear the sound of metal hitting metal and the roar of machines from early in the morning. It is not a clean office job where people wear suits. Most of us are out in the yard or the workshops wearing heavy boots and safety gear. The sun gets quite hot out here on Mambakkam Main Road and the dust can be a bit much sometimes but that is just the nature of the work. We handle a lot of technical things to do with building ships and it takes a lot of coordination between the different teams on site. There is always a truck coming or going and someone is always shouting instructions over the noise of the engines. We do not have much time for sitting around talking. Usually, there is a deadline or some big piece of equipment that needs to be moved. It is a gritty and honest kind of place to work. We do not put on any acts or try to look fancy for anyone. We have the space and the tools we need to get the job done and that is what matters to us at the end of the day.
