L Kumar Screens

You can find L Kumar Screens at 23/1, Valluvar Street in West Saidapet. It’s a narrow street and we’ve been tucked away here for a good number of years. Inside, it’s mostly just the sound of the machines and the smell of ink. We do a lot of screen work, mostly for local folks who need things printed or framed. It’s a manual process for the most part. We don’t have those massive automated lines you see in the city. It’s just us doing it by hand, making sure the lines are straight. Sometimes we get ink on our shirts, but that’s part of the trade. West Saidapet is a lively neighborhood. We know the people at the tea stall and the other shops on Valluvar Street. We aren't looking to become a giant company. We just like doing this work. It takes some patience to get the screens just right. We’ve had some long nights when a big order comes in. The lights stay on late and we just keep going until it’s done. We don't use any slick talking. We just show people what we’ve finished. If it looks good, they take it. That’s how we’ve always done things here. It’s a simple way to run a shop and it works for us. We've seen kids grow up in this street while we've been working.
