The smell of spices is pretty strong when you walk in, which is something you get used to after a few days of working here. We spend most of our time packing things up and getting them ready for customers around Saidapet and the rest of Kanchipuram. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting bags and making sure the labels are on straight. We don't have fancy machines for everything, so we do much of it by hand. The shop isn't overly decorated; it’s mostly just shelves and storage space. We open up early because that’s when the distributors come by.
