Design

Over at 5 S. Chidambaranathan in Nambiyar Nagar, we have a small place where we do all our design work. Velippalayam is a quiet enough area, which is good when you are trying to focus on drawing or planning something out on paper. We do not have a big team of experts; it is just a couple of us who enjoy making things look right. The office is really just a single room with some large tables and a lot of paper scraps lying around on the floor. We spend a lot of time drinking tea and looking at sketches. Sometimes a project takes a few days, and other times we are stuck on a single idea for over a week. We do not use any high-tech gadgets or fancy software that costs a fortune. It is more about the practical side of how things are put together in the real world. People from the neighborhood sometimes drop by to ask if we can help them with a small project or some simple signage. We aren't a big agency with a receptionist sitting in the front. You usually have to knock a few times because we might be in the back working on something. The windows are usually open to let the breeze in, though it often brings in some dust from the street. It is a simple setup, but it works for what we do. We just take things one day at a time.
