Deepam Colours And Chemicals

Our shop is located at 8/14, Renganayaki Street, inside the Ayyavoo Naidu Colony in Aminjikarai. It’s a small, local operation where we deal with all kinds of dyes and chemical supplies. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is probably the smell of the different pigments. We have shelves reaching up to the ceiling filled with jars and bags of various powders. It’s a bit of a maze sometimes, but we know where every single color is kept. The street outside is narrow and can get quite congested, especially when a delivery truck is trying to get through. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who handle the mixing and the sales. We don't do any big advertising campaigns. Mostly, people find us by word of mouth or because they’ve been coming here for years. Sometimes we get messy when a bag leaks, and we end up with blue or red hands for a few days. It’s just part of the trade. We spend a lot of time weighing out small amounts for customers who only need a little bit of a certain shade. We try to keep things organized, but in a place like this, there’s always a bit of dust. It's a quiet life for the most part, just focusing on the colors and the chemistry.
