D J In Chennai is based out of a small spot at No 4/1 on Thirupalli Street in Sowcarpet. If you’ve ever been to Sowcarpet, you know it’s a tight, busy area with lots of narrow streets and a ton of trading happening everywhere. We are near Wall Tax Road, which is always packed with trucks and people moving goods. Our setup is pretty basic because we are usually out at venues more than we are sitting in the office. This place on Thirupalli Street is where we keep the gear and handle the bookings. It’s a bit of a squeeze sometimes when we have all the speakers and lights in the room, but we make it work. The neighborhood is loud and full of life, which actually fits what we do pretty well. We don't have a big corporate office or a shiny storefront. It’s just a ground-floor space where we meet up before heading out to gigs. Getting around Sowcarpet can be a challenge with all the rickshaws and two-wheelers, but it’s where we’ve set up shop. We focus on the music and the equipment and don't worry too much about having a fancy office. It’s practical and it’s in the heart of the city. We just do our thing and try to keep the neighbors from complaining too much when we test the sound.
