Cut Salon

Out here in Vyasarpadi, things can get pretty crowded on Amman Koil Street. Our shop is at number 15/18, right in the Kakanji Nagar area. It’s a straightforward salon where we do haircuts for the local guys. We don’t have a lot of fancy equipment, just the basics like good scissors, electric trimmers, and sharp razors. The shop has some stools for waiting and a couple of main chairs where the work happens. We keep the music low or just have the radio on sometimes. You can hear the bikes and autos buzzing past the door all day. The mirrors are a bit old, but they show everything clearly enough. We usually have a bit of a rush in the evenings when boys are out or men are coming back from work. We don't spend much on decorations because we think the work is more important. The floor is easy to clean, which is good because we’re sweeping up hair every hour. It’s a practical place. We know most of the people who come in because they live just a few streets away. We talk about the local cricket matches or just how hot the sun is today. It’s a regular part of the neighborhood, and we like it that way. No big fuss, just a place to get a decent haircut and go about your day. We stay open until late because that is when most people have their free time.
