The office for the Confederation Of Indian Industry (Cii) Business Fair Division is located at 98/1 on Velachery Main Road in Guindy. It’s basically a lot of logistical planning and trying to fit hundreds of exhibitors into a space that always feels just a little too small. Our desks are usually covered in site maps and registration forms that need to be filed. People are always coming in and out, asking about booth sizes or electrical outlets for their displays. It gets humid here, so the air conditioning is always running full blast, which makes a low humming sound all day. We’ve got a small break area where we grab coffee and talk about how to manage the next big event coming up on the calendar. It isn’t some fancy corporate setup with glass walls everywhere. It’s a practical workspace where we get the actual work done. We spend a lot of time on the phone or responding to emails from companies that want to show off their products. Sometimes things go wrong, like a shipment showing up late or a sign being printed with the wrong logo, and we just have to figure it out on the fly. It keeps us on our toes and the days go by pretty fast when a fair is about to start.
