Chandran Hair Styles is located at 46/73 West Madha Church Street in Royapuram, Chennai. We are situated right opposite to St. Peter’s, which is a big landmark in this area. Being in Royapuram, we are close to the coastal side so the air is often salty and warm. The shop is a small local spot where men and boys from the neighborhood get their hair cut. It’s a busy street with lots of people walking to the church or the market. Inside, it’s a very basic setup. We have the usual mirrors and the black chairs for the customers. There’s a small TV in the corner that usually has the news or a movie playing. We spend a lot of time cleaning the combs and making sure the capes are clean for the next person. It’s not a luxury salon, just a place for an honest haircut. Sometimes in the evenings, the shop gets crowded with people talking about the local news while they wait their turn. The floor is often covered in hair clippings until we get a chance to sweep. We’ve been serving the local people here for quite some time now. It’s a humble business and we just take it one day at a time. The breeze from the fan is usually the only thing keeping it cool inside during the summer. We are used to the noise and the salt in the air.
