Anandha Saloon

Our shop is at No. 26 in Semathamman Nagar, which is very close to the big Koyambedu Market in Chennai. Because of the market, this whole area is always moving, even in the middle of the night. Anandha Saloon is a small place that caters to everyone from the guys hauling crates to the people living in the nearby apartments. We don’t have fancy air conditioning, just a couple of good fans to keep the air moving while we work. The mirrors are a bit old, but they work just fine. We do a lot of shaves and simple haircuts every day. People are usually in a hurry here, so we’ve learned to work quickly without making mistakes. It’s a very grounded kind of place. You’ll hear a lot of talk about the prices of vegetables or the traffic on the main road while you’re sitting in the chair. We’ve been in this spot for a while, and we’ve seen the market grow and change. It gets really dusty around here because of all the trucks, so we have to wipe down the counters quite often. We don't have any flashy signs or big advertisements. Most people just know us because they walk past us every day on their way to work. It’s just an honest, local business that has been here for years. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing.
