Our place is on the first floor of 12 Shanmugrayan Street. Being in Purasawalkam means it’s always lively outside. We’re right in the thick of it in Chennai-600007. Amtop Marketing is basically just a few of us working in a couple of rented rooms. It’s an old building, so it has some character, and maybe a few leaky taps, but it suits us fine. We spend our days coordinating with suppliers and talking to customers. The noise from the street is just part of the background now. We don’t have a big corporate lobby or anything like that. You just walk up the stairs and we’re right there. We focus on getting the marketing work out the door. Everyone does a bit of everything here—there are no strictly defined roles when the work piles up. We try to stay on top of the paperwork, though sometimes the desks get a bit messy. It’s an honest way to make a living. We’ve been here in this part of Tamil Nadu for a while and we know the neighbors well. It’s a busy life, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. We just show up, do the work, and hope for a smooth day. No bells and whistles, just a regular office in a busy part of town. We usually have lunch together and talk about things other than work. It keeps us grounded while we deal with the daily hustle and bustle of the city. We just stay focused on the tasks.
