S M L Engineering

Our workshop is at unit 33 in the New Sidco Industrial Estate. Maraimalai Nagar is a busy area, lots of noise from the other shops around us. We are S M L Engineering. We mostly do metal work and some repairs for other factories nearby. The floor is usually covered in shavings and oil, but that's how a real machine shop looks. We have a couple of lathes and a milling machine that have seen better days but still run fine. The guys here have been doing this for years. We don't wear suits; we wear grease-stained overalls. It gets hot in the afternoons, so we keep the big shutters open to let some air in. People bring us broken parts and ask if we can weld them or make a new one. We don't have a sales team. If you walk in, you'll probably find us at the back near the machines. We take the measurements, give a price, and get to it. Sometimes the power goes out in the estate and we all just sit outside and wait for it to come back. It’s a bit of a slow pace but the work is solid. We don't make big promises, just do what we can with the tools we have. It’s a straightforward life here in the industrial estate. We’ve been at this address for a long time and the regulars know where to find us. No fuss, just metal and hard work.
