If you head down to the Sidco Industrial Estate, you’ll find us at units 39 and 40. It’s a loud place, mainly because of all the metal being moved. We have been here for a while now. The floors are concrete and they’ve got plenty of cracks and stains from years of work. We don't have a receptionist or a lobby. You just walk in and someone will shout over the noise to help you. It’s a lot of steel, mostly pipes and sheets piled up. Sometimes the crane doesn't want to start in the morning, which puts us behind. We just fix it and keep going. The guys on the floor know their stuff, even if they don't say much. We drink our tea standing up near the back entrance where there's a bit of a breeze. Sidco is a busy estate, and there’s always a truck blocking the way somewhere. We don't spend money on fancy paint or decorations because that's not what we are here for. We are here to get the steel out. It’s dusty and it gets hot under the tin roof, but that’s just part of the job. By the time we lock up at night, we’re tired and covered in iron filings, but the work is done and that’s what matters to us. It's just a regular metal yard.
