Shri Bhagwati Cement Store is easy to find if you're driving along the Dadri Rotak Road. We are based in the village of Sanwar, and most of our work involves helping local farmers and families build their houses or fix up their barns. The road stays quite busy with trucks and buses going past all day long. We started this place because people shouldn't have to travel too far just to get a few bags of cement for a repair. We keep the stock in the back and wait for the deliveries to come in from the bigger plants. It’s a lot of lifting and moving, but that's the job. My brother and I usually handle the orders ourselves. We don't have a team of secretaries or anything like that. You come in, tell us what you're building, and we see what we have in the shed. The weather can be tough here, especially when it rains and we have to make sure everything stays dry. Cement is no good if it gets wet before you use it. We've lived in Sanwar all our lives, so we know everyone’s name and where they live. It’s a small operation, just a desk and a storage area. We aren't looking to expand into some big corporation.
