Working with mustard is what we do here in Khowang Katakipukhuri Gaon. Our small setup is based at Lakhanta Bora’s place, which is where most of the meetings happen. Dharitri Moran Mustard Producer Company Limited isn't some huge corporation. We are just local people who know a lot about growing mustard seeds in this part of the country. The village life keeps us busy. Most days involve checking the seeds or talking to other growers in the gaon. It’s a messy job sometimes, especially when the harvest comes around and everything is covered in dust. We don't have a polished front office or a receptionist. If you want to find us, you just look for the house in the village. We try to keep things simple because that’s what works for us. Mustard is a big part of what we know, and we focus on that. We don't spend money on fancy signs. We spend our time on the actual plants. The group here works together to make sure everyone is doing okay with their crops. It is a lot of back-and-forth between different neighbors. Lakhanta Bora helps keep things organized so we don't lose track of the paperwork. It is a slow process, building something like this from the ground up in a place like this. We just take it day by day and hope for good rain and sun. That’s the reality of what we do. It's basically just mustard and more mustard.
