Mahatma Gandhi High School & Junior College, Gadchandur

Gadchandur is a quiet place and Mahatma Gandhi High School & Junior College has been a part of it for many years. We are right here in Chandrapur 442908, and if you walk by in the morning, you’ll hear the students before you see them. The building is old but it works for what we need. Teachers arrive on their scooters, and the kids walk in from the nearby lanes. It’s not a fancy setup with air conditioning or anything like that. We have wooden benches that have seen better days and chalkboards that always need a good wipe. During the summer, it gets really hot in this part of Maharashtra, so the ceiling fans stay on all day, making that clicking sound. We handle both high school and the junior college sections. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded in the corridors during the breaks. The office is small and usually filled with stacks of registers and exam papers. We don’t have a massive playground, but the students make do with the space we have for their games. Most of the staff has been here for a decade or more, so we all know each other’s families. It’s just a regular local school trying to get through the syllabus and make sure the kids show up on time. There is always someone fixing a desk or painting a wall during the holidays. It is just how things go here for us.
