World Marine

Our place is located at the old 215 Soap Factory on Alka Road. It’s a landmark people around here know, right near Patel Boarding. We handle marine stuff, which covers a lot of ground. Some days it’s parts for boats, and other days it’s helping out with equipment. It’s a bit of a messy job sometimes, but we like being near the water and working with our hands. The building itself has some history to it, being an old factory and all. It’s got high ceilings and plenty of space for the gear we keep on hand. We aren't a big outfit with a lot of rules. We just show up and see what needs to be done. Sometimes we are out on a dock and other times we are here organizing the warehouse. It’s a lot of manual work and getting a bit greasy is just part of the day. We don't spend much time on the computer unless we absolutely have to. Most of our customers are people we've known for years who just give us a call when they run into a problem. We try to be helpful and give a straight answer. It’s not the kind of job where you wear a suit. We wear boots and clothes that we don't mind getting dirty. That’s just the way it is at World Marine. If you need us, you can usually find someone hanging around the shop during the day. We're just regular people.
