The sound of the grinding machine is something you get used to after working at Guru Nanak Atta Chakki And Karyana for a few years. We are located on Tardeo Road in Manimajra, specifically at 1055 1. It is a busy spot. We mostly grind wheat for the local families who prefer fresh flour over the packed stuff you get in big stores. Besides the flour mill, we keep a stock of basic groceries like pulses, spices, and oils. It’s a typical karyana store where people come for their daily needs. The floor is usually a bit white from the flour dust, no matter how much we sweep. We know most of our customers by name because they have been coming here since they were kids. People just know we are here. Working in a chakki is dusty work and it gets quite loud when the motor is running full speed. We try to get the orders done quickly so nobody has to wait too long in the heat. It’s just a normal local shop doing its bit every day. We don't have much room for sitting around, so it's always go-go-go from the moment we open the shutters. We work hard to keep the bins full.
