Budhiraja General Store

We have been sitting here in Sector 22D for a long time now. The store takes up booths 29 through 32 on the main road, so it is quite a bit of space compared to some of the smaller shops nearby. Usually, the morning starts early when the milk crates arrive and we have to stack them up before the neighbors wake up. It gets pretty busy because of the location right on the main road. People stop their scooters or cars quickly to grab a loaf of bread or some eggs on their way home from work. Inside, it is just rows of shelves packed with everything from soap and shampoo to bags of flour and pulses. Sometimes it feels a bit crowded when we get a fresh shipment of snacks or cold drinks, but we manage to find a spot for everything. The fans hum all day to keep the heat down, though it still gets warm in the afternoons. We see the same faces every day, people who live in the flats around here. It is a lot of lifting and moving boxes, keeping track of what is running low. Sometimes kids come in after school for a packet of chips or some stationery they forgot for their homework. It is just a regular life here at the booth, keeping the shelves full and making sure we have the things people in Sector 22 need for their kitchens every day.
