Agarwal Departmental Store

At Sector 35 C 108, we spend most of our time just rearranging cans and boxes. This is Agarwal Departmental Store, but most people around here just call it the corner shop. We have a little bit of everything squeezed onto the shelves. Sometimes I look around and think we have too much stuff in such a small space. We get the milk delivery early in the morning, usually before I've even had my tea. Then it’s bread and eggs. It’s mostly neighbors coming in for one or two things they forgot to buy at the big market. I know most of their names by now. We hear about their kids and their jobs while they stand at the counter looking for change. The light in the back flickers sometimes and I keep meaning to fix it, but there is always something else to do. We keep the snacks near the front because kids from the school nearby come in in the afternoons. It gets a bit chaotic then. The floor is old tiles that are hard to keep perfectly clean, but we try. Sector 35 is a decent area to work in. It’s quiet in the mid-mornings. I usually sit on a stool near the door and watch the cars go by. We don't do any big promotions. If we have it on the shelf, you can buy it. That’s about as simple as it gets here at 108. It’s a quiet life behind the counter.
