Down in Jhirinagwain, you’ll find us at Kapil Dev’s place. We are the Snower Seraj Bali Chowki Farmer Producer Company Limited. The name is a bit long, but it covers who we are and where we come from. Bali Chowki is a rugged place, and Seraj has some tough terrain. We deal with the cold and the snow quite a bit, which is why we have that in our name. Farming here isn't like farming in the plains. You have to be tough to make a living off this land. We get together to talk about how to get our crops down the mountain and into the markets where they can actually be sold. It’s a lot of logistics and sometimes the roads aren't great. We just do the best we can with what we have. Kapil’s place serves as our hub where we meet up. It’s usually full of people and the smell of mud and rain. We aren't experts in business, we’re experts in survival and growing things where others might find it too difficult. Every year is a bit of a gamble with the weather, but having the company gives us a bit of a safety net. We look out for one another. It’s a simple life in Jhirinagwain, focused on the seasons and the hard work of the Seraj people. We just keep at it. We don't need any special awards to know we're doing a decent job for our homes and our families.
