Chamba Valley Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are based in the Chamba Valley, specifically in Bhalkapo near Kuphara. Tej Ram, who is Sobhiya’s son, is the main person who handles the paperwork and the calls for us here. The valley is a beautiful place to live, but it’s real tough to make a living from farming alone these days. That’s why we started this producer company, to give the local farmers in our village a bit more weight when they go to sell their goods. We don't have a big glass building or a receptionist sitting at a front desk. Our office is usually just a corner in Tej Ram’s house or wherever we happen to be standing when a decision needs to be made. We talk about seeds, fertilizer, and who has a truck available to take a load down the mountain for the weekend. It’s a very hands-on kind of business and we all get our hands dirty. Some days are better than others, especially when the mountain roads are clear and the weather holds up for the harvest. We aren't experts in marketing or business strategy; we just know how to grow things and how to talk to our neighbors. It’s a small community in Chamba, so your reputation is everything to us. We try to keep things fair and help out the smaller plots when they run into trouble with their crops. It’s just a bunch of local folks trying to keep the tradition of farming alive while making enough money to live.
