Vishal Dairy

Running Vishal Dairy in Karol Bagh is a lot of early mornings and heavy lifting. We are located on the ground floor of Building No 6771/10 in the Dev Nagar area. My father and I start our day around four in the morning when the milk arrives in big containers. The shop is small and stays quite cool because of the large refrigerators we have for the milk, curd, and paneer. We don't have any fancy signs, just a counter where we serve the local people. Most of our customers come from the nearby apartments with their own steel jugs. We spend a lot of time cleaning the floors and the counters because milk can get messy if you aren't careful. In the afternoon, it’s a bit quieter, and we take turns resting on a wooden bench in the back. We make our own paneer every day, and that takes a few hours of work. People like it because it's fresh and soft. It’s a simple life, and we know almost everyone’s name in Dev Nagar. Sometimes the milk delivery is late because of rain or traffic, and we just have to sit and wait with our customers. We don't use a computer for our accounts, just a small diary where we note down who owes what for the month. It’s been this way for years, and we are happy just providing fresh dairy to our neighbors.
