Shashank Medicos

You can find us at 1 Paharganj, right on Rani Jhansi Road. Shashank Medicos is very near the Charitable Hospital, so we get a lot of people coming in at all hours. The shop is packed from floor to ceiling with medicine boxes. It’s a tight squeeze behind the counter, especially when there are two of us working. The road outside is always dusty and loud with cars and rickshaws. We spend a lot of time wiping down the shelves, but the dust always comes back. We don't have any fancy displays or bright signs. It’s just a regular medicine shop. We see a lot of people who are worried about their family members in the hospital. We just try to find what they need quickly and help them out. There’s a small fan on the ceiling that wobbles a bit, but it keeps us cool enough. We don't have a computer to look things up; we just know where every box is kept. Sometimes the medicine deliveries arrive in the middle of the day and block the whole entrance. We just have to move fast to get everything inside. We eat our lunch in shifts so someone is always at the counter. It’s a basic, hard-working kind of place. We’ve been here a long time and the neighbors all know us. We just stay focused on the work and the people who come in. It’s steady work.
