Sachdeva Memoreal Hospital

This hospital is tucked into the lanes of Suiwalan near Chitli Qabar in Darya Ganj. If you know this part of Delhi you know how narrow and busy the streets are. There are people and rickshaws everywhere. We have been at 1062 Suiwalan for a long time. The building is older and has seen a lot of years go by. It is a busy place because we are right in the middle of a very crowded area. Patients come in from all over the local market and the nearby houses. We handle a bit of everything here since it is a hospital. The hallways can be tight and there is always someone moving a stretcher or carrying supplies. It feels very lived-in. We don’t have those shiny floors you see in the movies but we keep things functional. The doctors and nurses stay on their feet for most of the shift. We see a lot of regular faces from the community who have been coming to us for years. There is usually a bit of a wait because of the volume of people but we try to keep things moving as fast as we can. It’s a gritty, hardworking environment where the main goal is just getting people treated and back home. The sounds of the market usually drift in through the windows throughout the day and into the night, making it feel very connected to the city.
