India Wire

At India Wire, we spend most of our time at 1/429/15, Gali No 1 in the Friends Colony Industrial Area. Things are usually pretty loud around here. That’s because we are surrounded by machines and big spools of wire. This isn't the kind of place where people come to browse. Usually, someone calls us because they need a lot of wire for a factory or a big project. We deal with all sorts of different thicknesses and metals. Moving the big rolls around is a lot of work and you have to be careful not to hurt your back. The floor is just plain concrete and it’s usually covered in little bits of wire offcuts. We try to sweep up, but it’s an industrial area, so a bit of mess is expected. There are just a few of us here doing the work. We know how the machines sound when they’re running right and when they’re about to have a problem. In the summer, the heat inside the shed is really something, so we keep the big fans blowing all day long. We don’t have a fancy reception area or anyone to answer the phones with a script. You just call and talk to one of us. We write down the orders on whatever paper is handy and get to work. It’s a basic, honest way to make a living. We focus on getting the measurements right and making sure the wire is ready.
