Hindu Roa Hospital

Our place at Hindu Roa Hospital in Malkaganj is one of those spots that everyone in North Delhi knows. The building has been there forever, and it shows in some of the cracks in the plaster and the way the paint is peeling a little. But it’s a solid place. We work in the middle of all that history. Most days, I’m just trying to manage the crowd in the lobby. Malkaganj is a busy area, so we get people coming in at all hours. It isn't a quiet office job. You’re always on your feet, talking to someone or looking for a lost piece of paperwork. The canteen downstairs usually smells like fried samosas and tea, which is where most of us end up during our lunch break. We don’t really have a mission statement or anything like that posted on the walls. We just come in, do our shift, and go home. Sometimes the water pipes act up or the lights flicker, but we just call the maintenance guy and keep going. It’s a very human place. You see everything here, the good and the bad. We just try to keep a bit of order in the chaos of a big public hospital. It’s not always easy, but it’s what we do every day at Malkaganj.
