Haflong Government College

Haflong Government College is situated in Hagjer Nagar, right in the town of Haflong, Assam. Being in the Dima Hasao district, we are surrounded by hills and a lot of natural beauty. The college has been a fixture in this area for a long time. It’s a government institution, so things move at a certain pace here. The buildings are spread out a bit, and you have to walk uphill or downhill to get between some of them. It’s a simple place. We have students coming from all over the hill district, some traveling quite a distance to get here. The classrooms are basic, and the wooden benches have been around for years. In the winter, it gets quite chilly, and you’ll see everyone wrapped up in sweaters. We don't have the fancy facilities you might find in a big city, but we have what’s needed for the courses we offer. The office staff stays busy with all the government paperwork and student records. It’s a quiet campus for the most part, except during the festivals or election times. People in Haflong know us as the main place for higher education in the town. We just keep the doors open and the classes running for anyone who wants to study. It’s an unpretentious place that reflects the life we lead here in the mountains of Assam.
